In a Jubilee Spirit our Tentipi Tent was used on Saturday 2nd June to support a Family Fun Day in aid of Filey CE Infants School and the St John’s Fabric Fund at St Johns Garden, West Avenue, Filey. Project volunteer Catherine Welch demonstrated seaweeds and seaweed pressing and we were joined by Filey Town Council Mayor Richard Walker and his wife Jackie.
Our project is about providing information, education and entertainment and the emphasis was on the last of these, when children’s entertainer Stephen Brailsford used the Tipi space to hold two magic shows, with about fourty children attending.A cold North wind was blowing and our Tipi was the ideal place to shelter in the warm.
Although the use of our Tipi for a magic show will probably be a ‘one off’ , it yet again demonstrated the adaptability of this ‘magic’ tent a place that offers a sheltered, cosy, safe, inclusive and exciting place for children’s activities.
Our next activity is a seashore walk starting off from outside Bakers Snacks at Coble Landing Filey at 10.30am on 5th June.
