On 2nd June we pitched our Tipi Tent in the Garden of St Johns Church West Avenue as part of a Family Fun Day in aid of Filey CE Infants school. The theme was the Yorkshire naturalist Mrs Margaret, who visited Filey in the middle part of the nineteenth Century. One of our volunteers Catherine Welch dressed for the part and demonstrated different species of seaweeds to children, Filey’s Mayor and his wife. The weather was cold and overcast which resulted in a slow start but with the help of a children’s entertainer who was onsite we had about 40 children visiting the tent during the day.
The event was yet another example of the adaptability of our tented classroom.
