In modern times of frenetic lifestyles and supermarket shopping, the Filey Food Festival of 13th to 14th October, was an opportunity to slow down the pace and sample some of our area’s best local and exotic produce. Filey has one of the best variety of small shops to be found in a small town and the festival augmented a local tradition of quality local food. Stalls in the Evron displayed a diverse range of food, from delicious Cretan Olives to even more delicious cakes and freshly cooked lobsters. Throughout the day cooking demonstrations took place at an outdoor food preparation trailer.

Just in case the sheer quantity and richness of food on offer was too much, the NHS healthy eating  consulting centre was set up nearby in our Tipi style tented classroom, another example of the versatility of this equipment.

The festival went so well that the organisers are considering holding two a year. Look out for advertising for a Spring 2013 event
